Historical Fiction Narrative Poetry and Author's Note

Author’s Note The Victorian era was a time where the world is making the transition into the technological age making it both easier and harder to write. That pulled me into writing about this. After reading Cassandra Clare’s book Clockwork Angel I was intrigued by the story of a girl that had been murdered by an occult society, like a young girl in that book was.  I got to thinking, what if this girl had once been poor? Wha t if she had once seen all the bad in the world? And what would happen if suddenly she was thrust into the life of the rich? What if the woman that took her in forced her to join a society? And what if she wanted to leave? The questions flitted around in my head for so long that I thought I might as well write on the idea thus the idea of Elizabeth Barnes was formed. Selma

What can students learn from the examples set by the leaders and followers at Selma? Students can learn about how you don't ned to fight against the people trying to push them down with violence. They can learn about how hard it was for the African Americans to work towards a goal and how no matter what happened the people continued to peacefully march against them. It was a difficult journey for the people to go through trying to get the rights they were promised. The younger generation was trying hard to be able to live better lives than their parents. The Civil Rights movement was a huge movement and something that really impacted the whole country and students should learn about the people that changed the way things were for the african americans. They were bombed and they were shot at and they were tear gassed and they were sprayed with water from hoses and they still fought on and it's an important lesson for students to learn. One of the biggest lessons that student...
