First Semester RLA Reflection

So this semester was interesting. I mean our class got two or three subs to hate us and on top of that made our teacher mad over a million times. It was also Really fun to be in a class full of people that talk and debate and even yell at each other because of the smallest of details. It's really interesting to see how much my class has affected the way I learn too. In other classes, whether I voice it or not, I'm beginning to question the facts and how they came to be. I'm starting to want to challenge some classmates on their opinion on a topic and show them why they are wrong and I am right (even if it's the opposite way around. I also feel as though I've grown as a writer. There are several people in this class, including you Ms. McKinnon, that have critiqued and added on to writing pieces that I've shown so far this year. Some of my friends have also contributed and been my inspiration for characters and an overall story line. Because of how many times I...
Persuasive Speech Reflection

How did it feel to watch yourself perform? It was strange. I was able to see how the audience saw me while also knowing exactly how I felt and what it was like up there. When I watched it I seemed more confident than I felt. Honestly, I thought that I was shaking and stammering and making a fool of myself. Turns out that I was able to present exactly the opposite way. What do you wish you had more time to fine tune in this speech? I didn't really like my topic so if I had more time to pinpoint a topic that I was passionate about I feel like it would have been easier to write my speech. Not only that but I would have also not been freaking out about my performance as much. What are you most proud of with this speech? To be frank I'm really proud that I was able to finish in time but if I'm going to be more specific it would be the small things like my word choice for a certain paragraph. Or maybe the way that I put a certain emotion into my speech. When I was ta...

1. If I could do this assignment again I would improve on the shading of the inside of the shoes. It looks like the inside of the shoe but if I added more detail from the photo rather than simplifying it, it could look a little better. 2. With contrast a pencil drawing stands out more and instead of the colors blending together because they are so close together in shade. You can see details and the actual figure of the drawing. 3. I learned a lot about how much I really hate values. (Just kidding!) I learned how to creat a light value while blending and how shadows play from a photo to drawing. Value scale: Picture: Rough Draft: Final Copy:

1. Freedom of the Press Press is allowed to write whatever he would like Without it there is limited thinking in the entire nation Since it is a basic right the public is scared that it might be taken away with the Trump presidency. 2. Freedom of Speech Not being able to learn anything but American history is stupid and people are protesting using the freedom of speech to change it They keep it because of patriotism Freedom of speech should be able to learn everything about America or they should teach them about the world Freedom of speech allows you to speak and say whatever you want to say 3. Freedom of Assembly You are allowed to go and protest whatever you think Occupy wall street is a large protest that wasn't really effective It was good to be able to protest and speak what was on their mind 4. After creating the podcast I was really proud of the fact that I finished it and that everything sounded good. My voice was clear and I really liked my script too. The haders thing though was probably the script itself. Trying to make it sound formal yet relaxed and not like I was a robot spouting off facts no one was going to need was infinitely harder than you would think it was. if I could I would clean up the interview I had with Mrs.Trainor. When we interviewing it was break and she wasn't feeling ell and the entire math department as coming to her room in a few minutes so it was rushed and certain answers weren't easily explained but there was no time for follow ups if I wanted answers to certain questions. The interviews although slightly shaky turned out pretty well. In the interview I had with Alisha although you can't see it the two of us were holding back bits of laughter and the entire thing was more of me asking her questions about her life before Singapore....

Monarchy -- A government by one ruler such as a king or queen. Passed down from one generation to the next in the same family, heredity. Oligarchy -- A government by ruling elite group of people. The rulers make decisions to benefit themselves. Democracy -- The rules and decisions are made by a majority (51%). A super majority is 60% Republic -- Decisions are held accountable to the law. The majority doesn't make the final decisions. The decision is up to the laws. Anarchy -- There is no government. People are allowed to make their own decisions. This includes defending their own land, property and themselves Why does America have federal and state governments? The state government checks the federal government and doesn't allow them to have too much power and vice versa. Singaporeans may find it difficult to understand because Singaporean government has total control and with it being an island it's easier to control the people. the federal government controls...

1) What have you improved on in RLA this far? I've become much better at watching my writing and editing out unnecessary details in my writing (thank you back to the drawing board and application essay!) 2) What do you see as an area for further learning/refinement? I feel like I need to work on being able to present my thoughts when ever we get asked a question instead of hiding in the corner hoping that I won't be called on. 3)What is your goal for the rest of the semester and what is your plan to achieve it? My goal is to finish the 2016 reading challenge and to improve my editing and my planning skills for my writing.
SAS Eagle Design

For this project in Art we created four simplified SAS Eagles with different designs, including one that was personalized. This was my final piece: This was my personalized eagle. On the inside is the sheet music to one of my favourite songs and on the outside are runes from one of my favourite books series. It's black and white to contrast the rainbow and color of the other eagles and because the way those two colors play against each other is one of my favourites. I left in pencil because the sheen looked nice and slight smudging gives it an imperfection that I really like about it. For a while I was stuck on what to do. I knew that I wanted to do a black background and a colored eagle but the problem was that I didn't know what I wanted to do. At first I wanted the inside to be rainbow but at the same time I was doubting the rainbow. Then for some reason Ria and I were talking about fire and I had the idea to do a red, orange and yellow ombre. But thi...

1. They were probably excited and happy that they had made it to America and worried that they may not make it in and be sent back. 2. The hall must have been crowded and loud. It probably had a really bad odor because people had just come off a boat they had been on for two or three weeks. People must have been nervous because they might be deported. 3. I felt cheated because I was quarantined not deported and I was sent to the wrong place. (Mr. Elms!) But at the same time I was upset that I was deemed not worthy and sent back.

My name is Zoya and I'm a first generation 13 year old Pakistani-American. I live with my mom my dad and my little sister Zara who is in the 6th grade. I really love to read to the point where sometimes I get into trouble. *sheepish grin* History is one of my favorite things. Learning about the past written by the victors then looking at it the other way around seems so cool to me. I really wish that one day I could go back in time and see what all the history that I learn about was actually like. Maybe that's why I like Doctor Who so much... all that time travel really boggles the brain. Funny History Quotes. QuotesGram "Funny History Quotes. Quotesgram". Quotesgram.com . N. p., 2016.
