FINAL IMAGE: I just wanna explain why I decided to make this. With everything going on in America I wanted to create something that stood with them since there's not much that I can do here. The flowers at the bottom are Black-eyed Susans which mean justice and at the top there are carnations which mean good luck. In between are some powerful quotes that I collaged on top of the graphite and design marker. I wanted it to be simple, and hold symbolism and I hope that shows.  REFERENCES:

Tweak Week 1: The Results

Plan  Evidence Re-Vamp Sustained Investigation 7  Before After Do Sustained Investigation 9 (completely new) New Piece Get some feedback Zoom calls with friends to get feedback Liberty Leggett Laura Ellison Sophie Stock Brynn Townley Whatsapp calls to some friends in America too!  Choose 8 works!  They’re all in the portal now!! I had to do some revising on what exactly I was going to do during tweak week after talking to a few more friends but in the end I think it worked out pretty ok! All components should be complete so hopefully I won’t have any incompletes after this… Thanks so much for your leniency and care Ms. Harvey, it’s such a stress reliever to know that submitting work for this class is a lot more relaxed than others it really makes the art feel like it’s coming out more naturally rather than forced. So thank you thank you thank you for this and all of your hard work!!

Sustained Investigation: Now What?

The link to the document The plan for tweak week is to: - Revamp Sustained Investigations 9 and 11    - Both pieces are already halfway redone in the style that I think suits them better so I'll be finishing them both - Clean up Sustained Investigation 7 and 8    - These two need some extra details that were pointed out to me from the feedback in the document - Get some feedback    - Once I've finished with everything above (hopefully by Friday) I can talk to some more people about editing a little more - Editing   - Going back on the feedback I've gotten and working from it to go back and forth between the feedback and editing stage until I'm happy with all the works Then I'll choose the 8 from the 11!

I had this idea on a whim one night at 10:00 and that's where the video comes in, I wanted to show my doing my first sketch so that there was evidence of me doing it myself. I have a really bad joke for you too: what did the fish say when he swam into the wall? Dam! Okay I hope you have a great day!

Gallery Visit # 3

I was able to catch the Disney Exhibition at the Art and Science Museum here in Singapore over our winter holidays and honestly, I spent a lot of the time trying to hold in squeals of excitement as I walked through. I've been a MASSIVE Disney fan my entire life and it was no surprise that I spent the majority of the time bounding my way through taking photos of absolutely everything that I could see. The way that they laid it out didn't make it any better as I walked through the memories of my childhood with the classics and then made it to some of my more recent favorites at the end. I did end up selecting some of the photos that I think really inspire me looking back on it and ones that I think really help to push my sustained investigation forward.  So this was one of the first pieces if I remember correctly and it's a sketch of the evil queen from Snow White. Aside from its direct connection with fairy tales, the drawing itself feels like a snapshot of the wo...

Gallery Visit # 2

Another gallery that I visited over the summer was the one at the Dallas Museum of Art. It's actually the art gallery that I went to the most when I was in middle and elementary school. It's not as big as the museum in Chicago but, it's one that's very near and dear to me. I got the chance to spend the whole day there and I was able to visit most of the rooms including Islamic Art, African Art, Surrealism and more. It's Hot By Coreen Mary Spellman This was one of the pieces that really caught my eye as I was walking through. Next to artfully colored paintings, it stuck out to me because of its simplicity. One thing that it taught me was that you don't need to go overboard with details in order to convey your message. Sometimes the message can be done artfully and cleanly. I used that in one of my sustained investigations actually. Another thing that I really took away from looking at the piece was how to make an engaging figure. The pose and the content...
