Color Pencil Drawing


The color pencil project! I thought that this project was really fun, although it was kind of difficult. The holiday that I was showing was my birthday. My mom has the tradition of coming to our rooms and hanging up banners and giving us a cake before we head off to school (my birthday has been during the school week for the last forever). This drawing is that. 

I think that during this project my strength lied a lot in my composition. When we were giving each other feedback I got a lot of compliments on it and I also think that the placement does a good job of showing off all the elements that I tried to incorporate. I did struggle a lot with the shading. I wasn't able to make good use of darker values and while I did get compliments on the color scheme something that I could work on would be using more contrast in order to make sure that every element had its place and that the main focus (the cake) didn't just fade into the background. 

Something that I'm definitely going to do in the future is go back and try to clean this piece up. I want to take all the feedback that I've gotten and apply it then compare that finished product to this one just to see how much I can improve in a short amount of time. As much as I struggled while doing this project I think that I was also able to set a good starting point and I think that I can only go up from here.

Final Reflection

CERAMICS FINAL REFLECTION Photo of final glaze piece Final thought on the best parts of this piece. Project 1 I thought that the best parts of this piece were the inside glazing and the small diamond detail I added to the front. I actually put a lot more care into these parts than any other part of the piece and I think that they ended up turning out better because of that. Project 2 I liked how the details on the body turned out  on this piece. I used slip trailing to get it to look the way that I wanted it to look. With the glazing it pops a little and I’m very proud of it. Project 3 I used the mug for the first time and I got really giddy and excited because, “Oh my god I made this alkshfla.” I really liked how the glazing worked with the carvings I had. Author’s Note Dear Reader, The idea for this may seem a bit strange at first, but I urge you to give it a shot. It’s not as weird as you think.
