Glory

Should the movie Glory continue to be shown in the 8th Grade social studies during the study of the Civil Wat? Why or Why not? 

   The movie Glory should definitely continued to be shown. It provides a look at what life was like inside the Union army as a coloured soldier. Even though we read accounts being able to have a visual representation of what may have happened during is really nice because instead of imagining it we can think about the battles we hear about to a film. Also, the movie was interesting and really cool to watch in general.

Final Reflection

CERAMICS FINAL REFLECTION Photo of final glaze piece Final thought on the best parts of this piece. Project 1 I thought that the best parts of this piece were the inside glazing and the small diamond detail I added to the front. I actually put a lot more care into these parts than any other part of the piece and I think that they ended up turning out better because of that. Project 2 I liked how the details on the body turned out  on this piece. I used slip trailing to get it to look the way that I wanted it to look. With the glazing it pops a little and I’m very proud of it. Project 3 I used the mug for the first time and I got really giddy and excited because, “Oh my god I made this alkshfla.” I really liked how the glazing worked with the carvings I had. Author’s Note Dear Reader, The idea for this may seem a bit strange at first, but I urge you to give it a shot. It’s not as weird as you think. It came to me in the middle of class while I was discussing a different topic in a critique group. So many people at SAS are mixed, part Asian, part something else; I began to think: what if there was a girl just like that in a story? And, of course, not just your typical coming of age story where the girl finally comes to terms with being half one culture and half another. More of a girl who knew who she was but was held back because people were scared of her. And thus the character Amani Kearny was born.
