Self Portrait

So this was my grid self-portrait. Getting to this end piece was a bit of a process: first I had a photo taken of me, then I had to edit the photo to make it black and white and a bit easier to draw. After that I had to draw a grid over the picture as well as over the paper I would be drawing on and from there I would be filling in each square with the proper values. I think something I really like about this is that if you look at the top half it genuinely resembles me. The one thing I really wish I could improve on though is the teeth and the mouth. From that point on the drawing kind of went south and that's a bit frustrating. The goal though is to get better at drawing the things I'm not the best with!

This next picture is of my mirror self-portrait. This one was definitely the most difficult of the two, but I still managed to finish! The steps for this were actually quite simple. You draw a base head and put the guidelines for eyes, nose, mouth, and ears and from there you just look at the mirror and draw yourself. An important part though is to keep the lighting and angle that you are drawing yourself in the same. I didn't and as result, the eyes turned out kind of different. One thing I noticed about this was that I fell into my usual drawing habit where everything turns out a bit cartoonish. I think though that for this I still was able to get my eyes, nose, and mouth in the proper proportion.
